Isla de Margarita

Isla de Margarita is known as the pearl of the Caribbean. Discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1498 and, as legend has it, named after his unrequited love Princess Margarita of Austria. Margarita has much to offer for all tastes..... A hurricane free part of the Caribbean with average daily temperatures of 30 degrees c. The charming people of Margarita give a warm welcome to visitors and are a pleasure to meet

Beaches

Juangreigo is notorious for its amazing sunsets.
Its many beaches are not to be missed. Beach restaurants serve freshly caught fish and world cuisine at very good prices.
Playa el Agua is one of the most popular beaches with many restaurants and shops. 15mins from Las Brisas

Watersports

Watersports abound - in particular El Yaque for windsurfing and Parguito for surfing are world renowned. See our Scuba Diving page. Various international events are held here - one of the top windsurfing venues in the world.
Other watersports include parasailing and waterskiing at Playa Concord and Playa Caracola, also deep sea fishing, fishing and snorkeling and diving.

Shops

Margarita is the only Duty Free Island in the Caribbean. Many people visit just for the shopping experience. There are cosmopolitan malls offering international brand names at duty free prices. Also local markets and handicraft stores are well worth a visit. Street vendors sell snack foods and tropical fruit. Cosmetic surgery here is of high quality and low cost.

Other

La Restinga lagoon is a National Park with beautiful canals of mangroves. It is one of the few places in the world where the ibis escarlata - a red-feathered stork - can be found. Margarita is a haven for bird-watchers. Boat trips are provided through the mangroves, and horse riding is popular on the deserted sands.

Churches play an important part in the lives of the people of Margarita. Each town has its own patron saint and there are many beautiful churches throughout the island.
There are also a number of museums, castles and forts throughout the island.
Entertainment for all ages can be found at the Island's waterpark and amusement park.
As for nightlife - apart from the numerous bars and restaurants, there are a number of nightclubs (some actually on the beach!) and casinos for entertainment..
Tours to the Venezuelan Amazon jungle and Angel Falls are highly recommended.
Isla Margarita Rentals will endeavour to help you to enjoy your vacation to the full!
